Bearnstow’s Young Artist Residency Program is designed to give selected young dancers a summer of total contact with good dance and to give Bearnstow a cadre of capable assistants who can “put their hand to anything.” In addition to these duties, our young artist residents have designed programs and promotional material, conducted research, composed sound scores, choreographed their own works, and created dance videos. The artistic calibre of our young artists speaks well not only for the institutions from which they come but also for the Bearnstow image of the renaissance dancer.
Karina Lynn Culloton is studying dance at St. Olaf College and is a member of the college's dance company. She also works as a dance technician and teaches classes on campus and in the community.
Nicole Garlando lives in Columbus, Ohio, where she co-operates an independent dance and arts space. Here she teaches community classes and develops new works with local professionals.
Adam Kerbel, a recent graduate of Marymount Manhattan College, is an actor and dance improviser who develops original dance-theatre performances. He lives in Philadelphia.
Heriberto (Chino) Mendoza, from Tecoman, Mexico, recently graduated from the University of Colima. Upon his return to Mexico he will work as an independent artist in Mexico City.
Cristina Ann Woehlert, originally from Michigan, is currently studying dance at the University of Colima, Mexico. She is also a member of the dance company Ensamble, Danza Escénica.
